SOLUTIONS
Putting principles into action for a better Bakersfield.
PUTTING PUBLIC SAFETY FIRST
A safe city is a strong city. I’ve been an ardent supporter of the law enforcement and firefighter communities, I am committed to ensuring that police and emergency services are well-funded, well-trained, and equipped to keep the community safe.
It has been my honor to serve on the Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation who seeks out and honors our heroes while providing grants and scholarships for individuals and programs aimed at building and training our law enforcement community.
I am dedicated to strengthening our city’s police and fire departments and pledge that I will only vote for budgets that maintain and add police officers and firefighters to the force and will immediately oppose budgets that cut our public safety heroes.
COMBATTING HOMELESSNESS
Out of control regulations from Sacramento and bad decisions from unelected judges in San Francisco and elsewhere, have created a crisis on our streets, delivering historic rates of homelessness in Bakersfield. Now, we have the legal tools to properly remove the homeless from camping in our parks and on our streets, whether they want to seek help or not.
I strongly support No Camping ordinances to end the occupation of our streets and will advocate to increase resources for quickly dismantling and cleaning up encampments.
I support current efforts to build on our public-private partnerships with faith-based organizations to improve housing and treatment for those looking for resources such as mental and physical health services, substance abuse care, and shelter with a path to ending chronic homelessness.
We must have transparency and accountability for the resources we spend combatting homelessness. I will insist on making sure the city accounts for the money they spend and measure its impact and effectiveness.
BACKING THE WARD
The residents of Ward 5 contribute more than their fair share of taxes to the city. As a member of the Citizens Oversight committee for Bakersfield’s Public Safety and Vital Services Measure, I’ve fought to ensure our tax dollars are wisely spent to improve our community.
As your councilman, I will fight for fiscal responsibility and work to prevent abuses of Measure N money. I’ll keep up the fight led by Councilman Freeman to ensure that our roads and parks are well-maintained, and our neighborhoods remain a gem of the city. We’ll maintain and improve public parks, recreational facilities, and green spaces for families and individuals to enjoy.
BUILDING A BETTER BAKERSFIELD
I’ve spent my career as a builder and businessman in our city. I understand that red tape, junk fees, and high taxes have the power to kill a growing economy. As your Councilman, I will work to simplify regulations and reduce red tape to attract new businesses, and support the ones already here, so that they can thrive and create jobs and generate income for our city.
Well-paying jobs and affordable housing are the cornerstone of a vibrant community. I’ll work to get homes built, reduce the cost of living, cut red tape at City Hall, and lead the charge to recruit job creators to our city.
REAL SOLUTIONS, NOT SOUNDBITES
This platform reflects the conservative values I embody and addresses the needs of the community. I will focus on responsible governance, public safety, fiscal responsibility, economic prosperity, and maintaining a high quality of life for all residents. By emphasizing these priorities, I aim to create a safe, vibrant, and prosperous city for current and future generations.
